Answers to the Most Frequently Asked Questions About Balancing Beads on the Internet: Part 3

11. Do balance beads cause vibrations?

Internal balancing agents (IBA) can migrate due to vibrations caused by an imbalance in the tire or wheel assembly. If you added the correct amount to your tires based on our recommendation and still feel vibrations, it could be that there are other underlying issues causing the vibration, such as an out-of-round tire, a bent rim, improper application, or not enough product due to the style of tire or tread. If you have reached this stage, we encourage you to reach out to our customer service team to help diagnose and troubleshoot the issue.

12. Why Do People Use Balancing Beads?

Balancing beads are an alternative to traditional balancing methods utilizing wheel weights and balancing machines that are gaining popularity because they eliminate the need for expensive equipment to balance tires. They are also a one-time balance and readjust with any new vibrations, or out-of-balance conditions.

13. What are the benefits of using balancing beads?

Counteract-branded Balancing Beads are constantly readjusting, eliminating the need for rebalancing. They are the only method of balancing tires that has proven fuel economy savings through two independently run SAE J1321/TMR RP-1102 Type II fuel tests. Other benefits include extended tire life, environmental friendliness, and, of course, an incredibly smooth ride.

14. Are balancing beads glass or ceramic?

Counteract Balancing Beads utilize a proprietary glass bead formula. They remain durable with temperature fluctuations, whereas other materials can break down, become shards, or granular, causing issues or abrasion to the inner liner of the tire. Glass beads have been proven to reduce tire temperature, improve fuel economy, and enhance tire casings retread ability.

15. Do balance beads work at low speeds?

Counteract’s Balancing Beads have the benefit of working at lower speeds compared to some other materials used. This uniqueness is specific to Counteract; however, all other Internal Balancing Agents (IBAs) are unable to stabilize and balance at lower speeds and tend to perform only at highway speeds in a straight line.
